To be ecologically responsible requires a team effort - a symbiotic continuing effort between our guests and our staff. We strongly believe in the ethos of Reduce, Recycle and Reuse. Our daily efforts throughout the hotel are applied everywhere from the Reception Area to the solar-powered water heaters and from the laundry room to the gardens that use grey-water for irrigation. We also implement our purchasing decisions to buy from local producers which reduces our waste impacts down the line.
Since 1996 we have implemented the use of solar-powered heaters for bathrooms, showers, kitchen and indoor pool. We also use a solar-powered oven in our outdoor kitchen. Over 80% of our hot water consumption is heated by solar power.
Since 2006 we have changed our in-room appliances (rooms, bathrooms and kitchens) to use water-saving devices to reduce our fresh water consumption by over 50%. We re-use that grey water to irrigate our lovely garden spaces.
Since 2006 our gardens have benefitted from using the re-cycled water from the laundry services with an integrated drip-irrigation system to reduce wasting water and putting it where it does the most good on a year-round basis.
We only use bio-degradable products in all our facilities. We do not use fabric softener in our laundry services.
Since 2002 we have used a filtration system that works with salt Instead of using chlorine. In this manner we reduce the need to harmful chemicals and the indoor pool takes care of itself. We also use solar power to heat the pool year-round.
We implement a waste management plan to handle all different kinds of different waste products based on their organic content, recyclability and composition.
